Second London showroom to support UK growth

Our clients .mdd Furniture were looking to move onwards and upwards from their starter showroom in Clerkenwell to a space from where their business could accelerate growth in the UK.

A showroom with added extras for .mdd

When we look for a showroom for a client, there are often nice-to-have features as well as essentials. Of course, we try to find a space that meets as much as possible of their brief. In this case, .mdd were about to launch a range of outdoor furniture. While very few showrooms include outdoor space, it was certainly something we could include in our research.

We looked at a good number of spaces and the one that worked out best for them, Unit 2, Compton Courtyard, was part of a development with a beautifully designed shared garden.

While negotiating terms on the space, comprising 1894 sq ft on the ground floor, the landlord’s agent also kindly discussed with their client use of the garden for displaying furniture.

We came to a very satisfactory arrangement which allowed usable furniture to be included within the design of the garden all year round, together with more extensive access during Clerkenwell Design Week – a huge bonus for our client.

Compton Courtyard

Compton Courtyard lies behind brightly decorated gates on Compton Street, just a few steps from the main furniture area. This space is actively managed by the owner and houses a number of creative businesses.

For .mdd, who operate on an appointment-only basis, the space is perfect, until they need somewhere even bigger in the future!
